GERD or acid reflux is a disease that provokes serious damages to the esophagus lining. The stomach liquid content turns back in esophagus and builds-up here. This acid reflux occurs when the food from the stomach isn’t broken down or digested properly by the enzymes and acid.
There are several symptoms that characterize GERD. Some of the most common are: heartburn, pain in chest, sore throat and hoarseness, regurgitating the food from the gullet back in the mouth, difficulties in swallowing liquids and food and asthma. These symptoms can last several months or even longer if the acid reflux problems are not treated correctly.
The symptoms of acid reflux disease can continue for long time, getting more and more painful as the time goes if it has not been treated in the correct manner at the right time.
Natural treatment can be also of a great help in acid reflux problems. Their beneficial effects can be observed immediately not to talk about the advantages that they have no side effects.
Water is one of the best remedies in many health problems and in acid reflux, too. The treatment consists in increasing the quantity of water drunk daily. Water has the property to dilute the quantity of acids from the stomach and the symptoms of the GERD are considerably diminished. Another option is to drink some water after every meal.
Almonds are also a great treatment in acid reflux. Chew some almonds at first hours in the morning and after every meal. The almonds must be chewed very well and in a short time you will feel a great relief.
Fennel tea has a soothing effect and alleviates the discomfort provoked by acid reflux.
The tea must be sipped slowly so don’t hurry and sip the tea in time. Chamomile tea has the same properties so it also recommended in GERD.
Cinnamon has been known for its great therapeutic properties since the antiquity. Sprinkle some cinnamon on toasted bread and eat it. Chew slowly to let time the acids from your mouth to break the food.
The grapefruit skin is another excellent remedy for acid reflux. The treatment can be prepared very easy. Grate the outer part of the grapefruit and let it a day to get dry. Eat it whenever your stomach creates you problems. Keep the remedy in a closed jar.
Romaine lettuce is another solution to get rid of acid reflux. This vegetable contains many minerals and it has a high alkalinity. Mix some well washed lettuce with water and a little amount of honey for a better taste. Blend these ingredients together and take it every day.
Another beneficial treatment is prepared from mace and nutmeg mixed with 1 tbsp of elm bark. After you have mixed these ingredients pour distilled water over it. Divide the mixture into 2 halves. Heat the first half and boil the second one and then mix all together with herb slurry. Store the mixture in your fridge and drink only half a cup when your stomach makes you problems.
